• You can use Power Point to develop lessons for your student or you can use it to have your student create presentations based on the lessons taught.

• Student and Tutor can work together to create a Power Point or skills can be taught in advance and then a project developed based on the platform you are using. For example a general lesson on how to use basic Powerpoint and then let the student create a powerpoint based on their homework or another assigned project. I attended one presentation regarding responding to student participation in Web 2.0 applications. It was a discussion group, and we were to look at challenges and solutions in assessment and providing feedback to our students when engaged in online collaborative or other digital projects.

We did not accomplish much in our discussion, but it might be useful for our PLC group to consider how to best respond to or assess our own students' participation in these types of learning activities.

• keep track of students' progress
• maintain a running calculation of students' grades based on category percentages the instructor inputs
• immediately see average grades for each assignment or assessment, to determine if reteaching is necessary
• maintain attendance records
• communicate with students via email
• maintain a calendar of events, assignments, etc.
• keep records for all of your classes in one spot
• list the same assignment in more than one class at a time
• export all information to Excel
• archive completed classes for reference

Advantages for students include the ability to:

• keep abreast of their grades
• check what assignments they have not turned in, especially if not present in class
• be sure that all grades are correctly recorded
• find out grades on tests and assignments just as soon as instructor posts them

I have used this site for two semesters now and my students and I both appreciate the features it provides. It is also another tool for those of us who are looking for ways to incorporate technology into our classrooms. I recommend you register and input either a current class you are teaching or make one up just to try it out. They suggested that a pedagogy of multiliteracies would be crucial in the future of education because if educators do not help learners achieve literacy in information technologies, for example, we could render them voiceless and, therefore, powerless to navigate that world.

They also suggested that educators should not simply be "technocrats"—they seemed to feel that if we only teach how to use the equipment, we run the risk of producing, "docile, compliant workers" only.

The discussions of generational personalities were pretty broad. For example, I'm a boomer, but I do not tolerate lecture settings very well. I prefer to study the material on my own and then tease it all apart at my own pace.
