Sometimes class size comes and goes. I think a lot of people have left or their survival needs come first.

I have noticed that problem also, but to a smaller degree. My students are telling me it is work related. When their boss wants them to work overtime or a different schedule, they feel like they have to go to work for fear of losing their job.

My BEG and INT classes started off at the same 35-40 size. But, I have had a really unusual drop out rate this term. Very frustrating. Also a lot of absences.

I always have a few drop out during the session, but I stay around 25. Not sure why they quit, probably for different reasons. Usually if they get a job or something, they tell me. I have to assume some quit because it's too difficult or not what they had in mind when they signed up.

My beginning ESL classes have dwindled quite a bit from previous years. In past sessions I would have up to 40 students per class, but this year I've had under 10… Has anyone else experienced this drop off? Any ideas as to why?
